Which barcode should I use for my products?

Use Code 128 for internal SKUs and warehouse labels because it accepts letters, numbers and any length. Use UPC-A in North American retail and EAN-13 elsewhere, but only with numbers issued to your company through GS1. Use QR codes when the label needs to open a link or hold longer text.

Do I need to buy barcode numbers?

Only for retail. If your products are scanned at other retailers' tills you need company prefixes and GTINs licensed from GS1, because those numbers must be globally unique. For internal stock control you can invent your own Code 128 or QR values.

Will the labels scan correctly when printed?

They will if the bars stay wide enough. Exports are vector PDF and SVG at exact millimetre sizes, so nothing is blurred by scaling, and the tool warns you when a bar width drops below 0.19 mm — the point where many scanners and office printers start failing. Print one sheet and test it before running a large batch.

Is my product data uploaded anywhere?

No. CSV files are parsed in your browser, and the PDF, PNG and SVG files are generated on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so you can use the tool with confidential pricing and supplier data.

Can I print onto Avery label sheets or a thermal printer?

Yes. Choose a sheet preset such as 30-up 66.7 × 25.4 mm labels on US Letter or A4, or switch to a thermal roll size like 57 × 32 mm for Zebra, Brother and Dymo printers. You can also set a starting label position to continue on a part-used sheet.

Retail UPC and EAN numbers must be licensed from GS1, because every GTIN has to be globally unique. Anything you scan only inside your own business can use Code 128 or QR values you invent yourself.
